What to do in White Cliffs

VISIT THE NATIONAL PARKS

White Cliffs is located between two national parks:

Mutawinji (side image), 90 minutes west, holds sacred Aboriginal grounds that can be visited in tours conducted by Aboriginal guides.

And 45 minutes east, a new national park has been opened: Peery. With its large lake, Peery provides significant wetland habitat, with magnificent wildlife.

BUY OPALS

White Cliffs has of course several high quality opal shops – buy from the source!

Featured here: the Top Level Opals shop on Smiths Hill. Underground, of course.

VISIT ART GALLERIES

White Cliffs is home to several artists of international repute, such as photographer Otto Rogge, jeweller Barbara Gash (side photo) and painter Rob Wellington.

VISIT DUGOUT HOMES

A number of people in White Cliffs open their dugouts to visitors – an opportunity to explore this unique form of architecture.

VISIT THE POWER STATION

The White Cliffs power station is linked to universities in Victoria, from where new solar photovoltaic technology is being tested.

STAR GAZING

Bring a stargazing book with you – the night skies here are breath-taking.

GO TO THE PUB

As can be expected from a mining town, White Cliffs has a long-established pub.
